Tiny Tots-2008 Fall Session 1

Tiny Tots is a class for very young children to learn to become comfortable in the water while in the arms of an adult he/she knows and trusts. Games, songs, and activities are designed to help children become confident in a pool environment. Our goal is to develop a love of swimming in babies and toddlers.

This class is designed for children 6 months to 3 1/2 years of age. An adult MUST accompany the child in the pool and all children are required to wear swim diapers (unless completely toilet trained).

Class Duration: 30 minutes

Splash-2008 Fall Session 1

This class is only for 3 year old children.

Pre-requisite: Must be 3 years of age, toilet trained and able to be separated from parents/guardians for 30 minutes.This beginning level introduces children age 3 to the water and is focused primarily on comfort and play. Students will develop a sense of confidence and independence and be introduced to water safety skills while having fun in the water. There is no advancement from this class until the child turns four. However, swimmers are welcome to take the class more than once.

Level 1- 2008 Fall Session 1

Pre-requisite: Children must be able to pay attention for 30 min. at a time. Swimmers will learn a correct body position for efficient swimming and focus on skills to increase water safety.

Level 2- 2008 Fall Session 1

Pre-requisite: Level I Skills By Level II, students should feel completely comfortable in the water and begin to show signs that they are ready to swim on their own (unsupported).

Level 3-2008 Fall Session 1

Pre-requisite: Level II Skills Level III introduces students to the freestyle which is the fundamental stroke in swimming. Many students will repeat Level III in order to learn proper freestyle technique (arms, kicking & breathing). Students will also be introduced to diving.

Level 4-2008 Fall Session 1

Pre-requisite: Level III Skills Level IV is a lesson building off of the freestyle and backstroke skills learned in level three. Students increase endurance and begin to learn breaststroke and butterfly kicks as well as standing dives and front somersaults in the water.

Level 5- 2008 Fall Session 1

Pre-requisite: Level IV Skills The most challenging aspect of Level V is successful coordination of the breaststroke. Like Level III, many students will repeat Level V to learn proper breaststroke technique. Level V also builds on the concept of endurance that is introduced in Level IV.

Level 6- 2008 Session 1

Pre-requisite: Level V Skill Level VI is a lesson where students will learn the full butterfly stroke and continue to build their endurance. This level completes the teaching of all four competitive strokes and the appropriate starts and turns. Many students who successfully complete Level VI are interested and ready to pursue competitive swimming and should consider our Team program.
