Mission Statement:
Charles River Aquatics is committed to helping children develop life skills through swim lessons. Our objective is to provide an atmosphere conducive to development and personal growth for individuals of all ages. We teach water safety, foster sportsmanship and fair play and demand respect for others in the class and in the larger community, while instilling in our participants a love for the sport.
Why do we need a pool?
• Offer more programs-to broaden the CRA mission to include more lessons, masters swimming, aquatic fitness programs and other important community and outreach aquatic programming
• Facility to better meet specific demands of programs, including warmer shallower water for learn to swim and senior programming and cooler water for higher performance levels for swim team, masters swimming and fitness programs
• Long course pool space to help team swimmers progress to higher levels of achievement
• Help address the significant lack of accessible and affordable pool space in Greater Boston area for teaching, training & events
Vision
Training & Competition Pool
• 2012 USA Olympic Trials Competition Pool
• 50 m x 25 yard
• 8 x 50 meter lanes
• 20 x 25 yard lanes
• 7 feet to 4 ½ feet deep
• Seating may vary from 300-800
Teaching and Warm-up Pool
• 35 feet x 75 feet
• 3 ½ to 4 ½ feet deep
• Warm-water (86-87 degrees) for teaching
• Can be warm-up pool for any event
Myrtha Pool Advantages
The new pool will have the latest technology in construction and water handling to minimize the annual and long term maintenance costs and provide a healthier air and water environment for CRA swimmers at all levels.
Partnerships & Location
• Seeking partners that can provide approximately four to six acres of land for building & parking. The building itself could range from 35,000 to 45,000 square feet depending on final design.
